Hey, y’all! For flat water paddling enthusiasts, it doesn’t get much better than the cool waters of the Green River. If adventure is on your radar as the warmer months come, consider the Blueway on the Green Trail — embark on it once & it’ll become a new favorite!

About the Blueway On The Green Trail

Hart County’s Blueway on the Green covers 42.5 miles of the Green River. The Blueway begins at the private launch, Lynn Camp Creek, and runs to Dennison Ferry inside Mammoth Cave National Park. You’ll be amazed at all there is to see on the route: springs, blue holes, and the gorgeous 300 Springs Waterfall — to name a few of the sights. If you plan to visit, please note access must be arranged to launch at Lynn Camp Creek. Also, please note that there is no public access between Munfordville and Dennison Ferry. Trip Considerations

1. Always wear a life jacket. Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs/life jackets) are required to be worn while on rivers inside of Mammoth Cave National Park at all times. It is important that your PFD is properly fitted, and US Coast Guard approved.  
2. Let someone know your plan. You should always leave a float plan with family/friends and inform them of your departure and return.
3. Leave alcohol at home. Alcohol is prohibited on the rivers inside Mammoth Cave National Park.
4. Know the water level and weather forecast. River use is prohibited when river levels are at or exceed 20 feet on the park’s water level gauges. To find out whether conditions on the Green River are suitable to launch your canoe or kayak, click here.
5. Please be alert for fallen trees, submerged trees and rocks, drifting debris, swift currents, and other river hazards.
6. Beware of all motorized vessels.
7. The river is a dynamic system which changes constantly. Expect the unexpected; conditions can change quickly. Watch for these changes and take immediate action to reach safety.
8. Do not exceed your skill level. If you are new to canoeing/kayaking, stay close to your launch area and paddle with an experienced acquaintance. Be capable of re-entering your watercraft.
