Hey, y’all. Derby City is known for three things: 1) The Run for the Roses; 2) Bourbon; and 3) the immaculate food scene. Looking to grab a burger out and about in the 502? Look no further, as Notable Kentucky has rounded up the Best Burgers In Louisville Kentucky! Fitting, too, as Louisville is one of the cities that claim to have originated the cheeseburger!

I. Toasty’s Tavern
1258 S Shelby St, Louisville, KY 40203
Toasty’s Tavern, which is located in the Shelby Park neighborhood, comes in at our top spot. Their smashed patties and the Toasty’s Sauce never disappoints!

II. Bambi Bar
2701 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40205
Ask many Louisvillians about their favorite burger and they’ll say two words: Bambi Bar. A dive bar steeped in tradition, they have 7 burgers to choose from. We love the Comeback Inn Burger, which features Gorgonzola Dressing in honor of Germantown-favorite, Comeback Inn.
III. Grind Burger Kitchen
829 E Market St, Louisville, KY 40206
Grind describes their burgers as chef-driven; they are inventive, feature local + regional ingredients, and will keep you coming back for more. We recommend the B&B: burger + brie + bacon + smoked habanero jam.

IV. Mussel & Burger Bar
113 S 7th St, Louisville, KY 40202; 9200 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40299
At Mussel & Burger Bar, you’ll find a gourmet twist on classic bar and grill fare – all of which is made in-house! A favorite is the Southern Bell: a burger topped with fried green tomatoes, rémoulade sauce, and pimento cheese on a pretzel bun; served with sweet potato fries + smoked pineapple dipping sauce.
V. Hammerheads
921 Swan St, Louisville, KY 40204
Hammerheads is one of Louisville’s cult favorites – and with good reason. In the basement of their Germantown location is a small, intimate dining experience chock-full of flavor. They offer four burgers: angus, venison, elk, and chorizo.
VI. Red Hog
2622 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206
Red Hog is Louisville’s first craft butcher shop. They feature meats from local farms committed to sustainable, humane, and ethical farming practices. Their meat is available as fresh cuts, cooked/cured, in the butcher shop, and on their restaurant menu. While all of their meats are great, don’t miss their burger!
VII. Bunz Burgers
969 1/2 Baxter Ave, Louisville, KY 40204
If you are in the market for a delicious, greasy burger (and, to be honest, who isn’t?), check out Bunz Burgers in the Highlands. Favorites include the Red State (double burger, pepper jack cheese, habagardil pickles, grilled onions, grilled jalapeños, mayo, hot sauce) and the Louisville Shroom (single burger with swiss cheese, bacon, grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, and bunz sauce).

VIII. Ollie’s Trolly
978 S 3rd St, Louisville, KY 40203
Ollie’s is a lunchtime institution in Old Louisville – and easily has the most inexpensive burger on this list. Louisville is lucky to have one of the few remaining locations of this once-national chain. Order the Ollie Burger and don’t forget to get a cup (or two!) of Ollie Sauce on the side. The building itself looks like a trolly car and can’t be missed!
IX. Cask Southern Kitchen + Bar
9980 Linn Station Rd, Louisville, KY 40223
Cask prides themselves on taking a new approach to southern classics + cocktails. Their burger happens to be one of our favorite things on the menu! The Cask Burger features a ⅓ pound smashed patty + bacon + pimento cheese + fried egg + smoked tomato mayo + pickles. Yum!

X. Six Forks Burger Company
1039 Ash St, Louisville, KY 40217
Germantown makes another appearance on this list with Six Forks Kitchen and Bar! Six Forks Burger Company is Louisville’s home for gourmet quick service hamburgers. Build your own burger or choose from one of their curated selections – you won’t be disappointed.

Kentucky first, forever, and always.
